Alex and Laura married in October of 2022, and I had both the pleasure of being their floral designer and attending their super fun, sunshine-filled wedding in Comporta, Portugal. As long-standing friends Laura and I had already mused about what her wedding flowers might be - adding a foreign country into the mix was unexpected, but I was up for the challenge!

Their super cool, paired-back venue, Spatia Comporta, was the perfect blank canvas to work with. Laura is a fan of fun, organic, garden-style florals therefore we drew inspiration from her and Alex’s pink and green colour scheme and incorporated as many seasonal, wild-style flowers as possible, combining large-headed, blousy roses with mixed delicate fillers, local grasses, and foliage.

The bridesmaids all carried white and green posies to offset their fab mix-and-match pink attire, while Laura’s bridal bouquet had soft touches of peach and pink to compliment her otherwise all-white outfit. For the aisle, I created a grounded floral arch that framed the ceremony and blended with the surrounding countryside. This was dismantled and whisked away to the poolside for supper, where they then served as meadow-style floor designs at the table ends and the buffet tables.

The long, banquet-style tables were decorated with hundreds of bud vases and bottles filled with mixed flowers and airy grasses that came together as long floral runners down the centreline of each table. The overall vibe was super fun and relaxed with a touch of luxe - all beautifully captured by local photographers, The Lopez Photography.
